The built-in GNOME 42 screenshots are, at the same time, saved in the ~/Pictures/Screenshots/ folder and copied to the clipboard, so the user does not need to find them.

Other Desktop Improvements

This release also includes an upgrade to KDE Plasma 5.24, containing improved design and interface tweaks. Icons for Nmap, ffuf and edb-debugger have been improved and updated, and new ones have been added for evil-winrm and bloodhound.

For the app dashboard, programs that include a user interface will now respect the custom icon provided by Kali.

Hollywood Activate / Kali (April Fool’s) Screensaver

The idea was born out of an April Fool’s joke and represents how Linux and other open source developers can have fun with their work. The developers are also reimbursing Hollywood for having Kali Linux appear in the media, including on the show “Mr. Robot”, according to their announcement.

You can also install the hollywood-activate command so that you can launch it immediately from the terminal and avoid waiting for the screen saver to start:

Kali brings a number of brand new improvements, mostly focusing on installations on Raspberry Pi.

  • Bump bit at 5.10103
  • Bluetooth is supported and authentic this time around.
  • Wi-Fi firmware currently uses 7.45206 by default as opposed to 7.45154, with Nexmon spots used.
  • Raspberry Pi No 2W is currently supported by nexmon
  • Improvements to wpa_supplicant. configuration management
  • The bit actually has built-in NVME support, as opposed to the component, so Raspberry Pi compute components that use NVMe for their native tool will certainly work out of the package.
  • The Raspberry Pi userspace is currently packaged for ARM64 instead of being developed by hand while imaging.
